Softaculous lets you install WordPress from DirectAdmin in a few steps. You do not need to upload WordPress files or create a database yourself. Softaculous takes care of that for you.
Before you start
Make sure web hosting is active for your plan and your domain name is linked to it. You also need access to DirectAdmin.
To open DirectAdmin, go to Dashboard, select your plan, and open Web hosting. Then click Log in automatically.
Install WordPress with Softaculous
Step 1: Open WordPress in Softaculous
In DirectAdmin, open Softaculous Apps Installer in the menu. Then click WordPress.
Step 2: Start the installation
On the WordPress page, click Install Now.
Step 3: Choose the installation address
Under Software Setup, choose where you want to install WordPress:
- Protocol: Choose https:// if SSL is active for your domain name.
- Domain: Select the domain name you want to use.
- In Directory: Leave this empty to install WordPress on your main domain. Enter a folder name, such as blog, only if you want the website at an address like yourdomain.eu/blog.
- Version: Use the latest stable WordPress version unless you need another version for a specific reason.
Step 4: Enter your website settings
Enter a site name and a short description. You can change both later in WordPress.
Softaculous may also select extra plugins for you. Untick any plugins you do not want. A simple setup is often easier to manage, and you can always install plugins later.
Finally, choose the language you want to use for your WordPress dashboard.
Step 5: Create a secure admin account
Enter an admin username, a strong password, and an email address you can access. Avoid usernames such as admin because they are easy to guess.
Important: Save the username and password in a password manager. You will need them when you log in to WordPress without Softaculous.
Step 6: Install WordPress
Check the settings once more. You can also enter an email address if you want Softaculous to send you the installation details. Then click Install.
The installation may take a moment. Keep the page open until Softaculous confirms that WordPress was installed successfully.
How do I log in to WordPress after the installation?
Open All Installations in the Softaculous menu. You will see your WordPress website in the list.
Click the person icon under Admin to log in to WordPress without entering your WordPress username and password.
That is it. WordPress is now installed. You can start choosing a theme, creating pages, and adding the plugins you need.
