Fix Missing DNS Records Notification

You see a notification about missing DNS records in your Site.eu dashboard? Don't worry. This happens when you activate a service, but the needed DNS records aren't there yet. Let's fix this together.

Why do you see this notification?

Think of DNS records like street signs. They tell the internet where to find your services. When you turn on a new service (like email or a subdomain), you need the right street signs. Without them, visitors get lost.

The notification pops up when:

  • You activated a service (email, web hosting, website builder, etc.)
  • The DNS records for that service are missing
  • Your domain can't properly use the service yet

First, check your DNS setup

Using external nameservers? If you manage your DNS somewhere else (not at Site.eu), this article isn't for you. Instead, read: DNS notifications when managing DNS elsewhere

Using Site.eu nameservers? Great! Keep reading for two simple solutions.

Solution 1: Quick fix with default settings

Using Site.eu's default DNS settings? Here's a neat trick:

  1. Go to your domain's control page (click your domain in the sidebar)
  2. Navigate to Domain settings → Advanced settings
  3. Find the toggle "Use default Site.eu settings"
  4. Turn it OFF
  5. Immediately turn it back ON

This refresh triggers Site.eu to check everything and create any missing records automatically. Like hitting the reset button on your router!

Solution 2: Manual DNS management

Not using default settings? No problem:

  1. Click on the notification
  2. You'll see exactly which DNS records are missing
  3. Add these records in your DNS management interface

Or switch to default Site.eu settings - it's easier! Most customers prefer this because Site.eu handles everything automatically. Learn why: Why is it best to use the default Site.eu settings
