Yes. A redirect you make in your dashboard works with http:// and with https://. For https, your domain name needs an SSL certificate. Our redirect server arranges it for you. It's free, it's automatic, and you don't need web hosting for it.
This works since 23 October 2026. Before that, dashboard redirects only worked with http://.
Haven't made a redirect yet? Here's how to create a redirect.
How does it work?
- Nothing to do. The first time someone opens your domain name with https://, our redirect server gets a free SSL certificate for it.
- The very first visit can be slow. While the certificate is being made, that first https visit can take a few seconds. After that, it's fast.
- Renewed by itself. The certificate is renewed automatically, long before it expires.
- http:// keeps working. Visitors who type http:// are redirected just the same.
Which addresses get a certificate?
Your domain name, its www version and every subdomain you made a redirect for. For example yourdomain.com, www.yourdomain.com and shop.yourdomain.com.
There is one condition: the address must point to our redirect server. That's why DNS management must be on for your domain name. Then we set the right DNS records when you create a redirect. Is your domain name registered elsewhere? Then its DNS has to point to us too. Read how to make your external domain work with our services.
Is https not working?
- Just created the redirect? Give it time. A new redirect can take up to 24 hours to work everywhere.
- Do you manage the DNS records yourself? Then make sure your domain name only points to our redirect server. An extra A or AAAA record for another server blocks the certificate.
- Still not working after a day? Contact us by WhatsApp, Telegram or email. We'll look at it with you.
Redirects in DirectAdmin
Redirects you make in your web hosting control panel are different from the ones in your dashboard. You only need them when your domain name points to your web hosting. Then you also request the SSL certificate in DirectAdmin. Here's how to activate SSL in DirectAdmin.
